I spotted the first Japanese beetle today. It was tucked under one of the petal's on a rose bush.
I dread this fight worse than the rabbit's. It doesn't seem to matter what I do, they still eat most of the roses, and anything else in the garden that they want. I have tried everything out there, but have never found anything that really keeps them off of the plants.
Does anyone out there have any suggestion's?

No, not Japanese beetles already! I haven't seen one yet, but I don't grow roses because I don't want to have to deal with the Japanese beetles. Isn't that kind of sad?

I usually see them in another week or so.

Good luck in your battle with them...

Not the dreaded beetle! I don't spray so I hand pick these nasty things off of my trees and flowers by the hundreds. At least this year they don't have as many leaves to munch on, between the late freeze and the drought, they can't do too much more harm.

We have multiflora rose on our fence line and in a day they were destroyed...they have left our garden alone for now.
